Mark has nearly twenty years of experience as a computer scientist building complex web and software applications for public and private companies. He built his first web site in 1992, and has authored four books on web application programming.
Before joining Growth Acceleration Partners, Mark was Chief Technology Officer for Snapse, Inc. in Ft. Worth, a provider of a web-based turnkey video sharing solution designed for marketing and promotion. At Snapse, he was the technical voice in the strategic planning for Snapse and was responsible for overseeing current technology assets and developing a technology vision for the business.
Prior to Snapse, Mark was a Senior Architect and Consultant for McLaughlin Anderson Luxury Villas Ltd in St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands. He co-designed and developed a web-based real-time villa-rental availability engine with an accompanying back-office quoting and reservation system.
Before McLaughlin Anderson, over a period of five years, Mark provided consulting services to several startup web-based software companies.
In December of 2000, Mark co-founded Rocksteady Networks where he was a Senior Software Engineer. His responsibilities included the management and integration of the Rocksteady Network Sharing Appliance with the IBM’s VideoCharger and WebSphere Express products. He also architected and developed a Wireless ISP (WISP) web-based billing system that included an authentication, authorization, and accounting back-end system.
Mark’s professional career began as a computer scientist researching distributed documentation systems using SGML and Hypertext. During that research he stumbled across the World Wide Web in 1992. In that same year, he built his first web site and the rest is history.
During his professional career, Mark has authored four books about web programming. He also co-founded the Austin World Wide Web User Group in 1994.
Mark was graduated from Texas A&M University in Computer Science in 1990.
Mark is currently the President of the Austin Golf Association. Mark enjoys golf and playing acoustic guitar.
